I’m not quite sure what drew us back here to Jalama Beach. Could have been the World Famous Jalama Burger. People do make the 15 mile rough road detour off HWY 1 just to eat one, maybe two. Perhaps it’s the three or four daily surf checks with the dog. Carlos loves the coastal breeze and the soft sand between his pawed toes. The nostalgic feel I get when the Surfliner train passes above the bluff on the palm-lined trellis? Yeah, that’s pretty awesome. Thor’s treads in the sand? Yes, that’s wicked!
In any case, we’re right back here at Jalama in a “walk-in” site and might just take the ranger up on the 14 day limit. Feels a bit like an exotic vacation, why not? So we’ve decided to stay through the Labor Day weekend at the least. With the exception of ice and beer, provisions are stocked for a week.
Without phone service it does feel like we are out in the middle of nowhere. I think that’s what draws us back.
A slice of beach heaven~right here on the Central California Coast~off the beaten path.
~~~Viva la Jalama!~~~
