Fishin’ In My Own Backyard

Carli’s Mermaid Hammock is situated in a community of small lakes. More like ponds but with pine trees and cypress that outline the shore. To me, they seem like little lakes.P1000637 P1000638 P1000623

When we first moved Cali back in January, I was so busy with the move, putting in wood flooring, painting, and new blinds to notice that these lakes are chock full of fish. Very healthy aquatic life.

On our walks with the dog I would notice small minnows, turtles, the lurking gator, and on one occasion the mythical and magical mermaid. But it wasn’t until March that I pulled out my fishing gear from the van. The tip eye had broken off, I had maybe thirty feet of line, and a crappy rubber worm I found on the shore just a few days earlier. Yes, my fishing gear needs updating. I’ll be keeping my eyes open for this stuff at the spring garage sales.

I ‘d seen a few local kids and a handful of non-locals fishing out back just steps from my backyard. Apparently there are lots of bass, so I thought I’d give it a go…

Strictly catch-and-release here

…Because  you know I’m all about that bass
‘Bout that bass, no treble
I’m all about that bass
