We Are Now Men

For the final encore of Flashback Friday, one last jig on a musical note~~~

Soon after publishing last week’s post, I heard from Norway, my sidekick PJ, that a friend of his is playing in Portland the following week. PJ, aka Mr. Kamikaze, scored us some tickets.

So in the course of nearly forty years our musical tastes as boys has evolved from the likes of DEVO to something a bit more sophisticated, American Roots Music. Tonight at Duff’s Garage it was Kevin Selfe and the Tornados featuring Jimmy Bott on drums. Mr. Selfe can play a few licks on his guitar, but it’s his storytelling that captivated me. Reminds me of how I often talk to myself(I’m actually just amusing my dog) with his song The Long Walk Home. His horn section and Jimmy’s beat brought down the house. Well, I mean Duff’s Garage.

Thanks PJ! Despite what others may think, we’ve grown up.

Good times on the east side of town.
