The little wooden horse has been part of Swedish history since the 17th century. Woodsmen spending the long winter nights carving the trinkets in trade for room or board. Today it’s recognized as a symbol of Sweden, and most are made in the town of Dalarna.
This primitive postcard however, was made by yours truly. I used a linocut technique – a design carved in relief on a block of linoleum. Then you paint the linoleum and use it like a rubber stamp.
