It all began when I had this notion. An idea that cropped in my mind while traveling in Ireland: twice being given business cards with websites that just didn’t live. The site was theirs, but there was no beauty, no content, no information! And I saw a NEED!
Maybe even a need I could fulfill while traveling. . . how difficult is web development anyway?
But then there’s CSS, SEO, WYSIWYG, hackers, categories, pages, menus, not to mention the plugins and widgets and tags and… ALL OF WHICH come naturally to a large population, but not me, so, let’s just say, that notion ain’t gonna happen.
Reporting from Ventura, California, our 8th, and final week into our “assist”,
we are reaping the rewards of our long term efforts with Free Time. Free to explore our neighborhoods, Free to wait in ice cream lines, Free to scope the what-not-shops,

Local Honey Shop, not only features honey with whiffs of lemon, cinnamon, ginger, but full-on flavor of the same. . .
even Free to chose NOT to drive the van for 24 hours. Or, how ’bout this one: Free to free yourself from MAN BUNS?
We were Free to take the dogs to the beach a couple times, and lucky us, we strolled the touristy Ventura Harbor, pretty people-Free.
We had Freedom to play: how many shops can we get the dogs in? (Really I’m kidding, but I did tuck the littlest dog under my arm through a couple shops and the Harbor Museum to get a Channel Island patch.)
I had more Free time to goof around with my lemon experiments. Using those juicy, round, almost orange, thin skinned variety, called Meyer Lemons, and letting them simmer in a simple syrup formulated from that delicious honey found down the street and a variation of this recipe. But the biggest Freedom? We get to gear up for the next leg!!!
By gear up, I mean we stuck the water jugs in the freezer, got Thor to the car wash (think we shaved a couple pounds), we vacuumed sand, wiped down the ice chest
and the pantry. Today, Woody is prep’ing a couple meals to freeze. We’ll be able to heat them up in a skillet or microwave – so either way we land, we’re covered.
It’s pretty exciting, feels like new territory all over again!
On the move again — have fun cruising!
