Arne & Michelle, our hosts, are fantastic movie fans. We seem to gravitate to music/musician documentaries. However we do stray, such as Kingsmen – DO NOT WATCH KINGSMEN – Arne & Michelle had the brilliance to wash that movie out of our heads, by watching some old favorites; specifically, Raising Arizona and Little Miss Sunshine.
Talk about “feel good” movies! Did you know it took 15 babies to play the five Arizona quintuplets!?, and it took five busses to play the bus in Little Miss Sunshine? Five. That got me thinking, that’s more doubles than are required for animals, and more concerning, are vans so unreliable that five busses were required?!
Our neighborhood in mid-town Ventura has a van on most every street. Thor’s cousins. “Cousins” in the Hawaiian sense, where essentially everyone is a cousin. Such cousins, that you actually wave when you pass another. I absolutely thrill when we get what we call
the “Westy Wave.” There are several variations, but I especially like the “Hang Loose” version. Personally, I don’t feel I have the swagger for that one. . . yet.
Like any cousin, each has it’s own personality and sex appeal. There’s the confident cousin who gets up and goes without hesitation:
Then, like all families, there’s always an “Uncle Eddie”! Pictured below, bejeweled in beer caps and bull horns. Some words of wisdom from Eddie, “Look past the mud on the windshield,” “VENtucky”, and “Dig it up and Drive it.”
The White collar worker across the street, she’s off the curb at 7:30am and parked in the same spot by 5:30pm.
It’s on our early morning dog walks, we find out who the kissing cousins are
We have our share of sexy cousins. One Westy, with all the bells and whistles: awning, solar shower, sports bra. . . hey, if you’ve got it, flaunt it.
And, this fellow, always dressed for halloween:
Around the corner, this Australian mate rents his rig for outback California “kombi” adventures:
We all drive peacefully and cheerfully by this cousin, he’s a little “off”. Hate to see his belt snap. . . could go postal without warning.
Clearly several of these cousins are movie star quality, or at least “double” worthy! – we are close enough to Hollywood aren’t we? I kind of see Thor in some sort of post apocalyptic feature, Mad Max-like. Glad we did the beach photo shoot – in case we’re asked for an 8×10 glossy.
