There are several blogs I’ve started, that just don’t “take off”. There are many images that won’t make a full story. Gathering the pieces, it looked like I could make some sort of compilation of our journey so far.
A far cry from swimming with dolphins, but learning about tortoises up-close, was an awesome experience. With the same family since a hatchling, Sherman is 14 years old. He understands simple commands, and enjoys a good rub down! Did you know they can feel sensation through their shell? It isn’t much more than a fingernail that covers them, and Sherman’s favorite spot, is just above his hind legs – just like our Carlos!
We saw this solo sea lion on the touristy shores of Pismo Beach. It didn’t take much effort to capture what appears to be a peaceful, secluded rest. But as we learned from the helicopter park rangers, this was a skinny male, not exhibiting “typical” shoreline behavior. Luckily
we saw him make it back safely to the ocean. . . . considering the possibilities:
We have discovered several community gardens, groves or other nature spots. Most of these opportunities are spontaneous luck, due to the many walks we go on with Carlos. California, even draught stricken, has some beautiful gardens. Cal Poly has a great cactus garden. I got a kick from one called “Old Man Cactus” – at first I thought it was like a nick name, but it’s actually the type of cactus. Me, I saw Cousin It, in a heartbeat.
Seriously, it was a nice display of different cacti. I’m especially happy with this closeup I took of a blooming barrel cactus. The flower bursts like the sun itself!
Another photo that I think turned out nicely is this thistle with the sky and low hanging fog as the backdrop. . . This was in Jalama.
Then, I had this notion that I would put together a blog that featured a Thor photo-shoot. It’s an indisputable fact that my images are Thor-heavy. Something about that rig just makes me want to snap photos.
As for our responsibility to a couple dogs, and a convalescing foot?, Well, the pinky toe comes off next week, we’ve just learned it’s tormented with a bad bone infection. And, I suppose I will learn a new sort of foot dressing. . .
