These last couple weeks we’ve had the job similar to a personal assistant, and we’re loving it! Anything from meeting contractors for multiple bids, getting the dogs out, shopping for appliances, maybe making a dinner or two. . . to our one weak attempt at yard maintenance, I’m certain our skills were well suited, but the tools were not up to the job at hand.
In addition, we are diligently at work to get a rental unit up to snuff. In three short months, this single family home was brutally abused by tenants that were offered a “second chance”. – Landlords beware: it isn’t worth it to be “Mr. Nice Guy;” stains on floors, holes in walls (not of the picture frame type,) greasy hand prints everywhere.
Annnnd, I am working on putting together a couple applications for a rebate on lawn abatement. In Ventura County’s effort to reduce water consumption – and I guess lawns are big water consumers – they are offering to cover a good chunk of the expense if you physically remove the lawn (brown grass isn’t enough for the rebate), and install a yard to their new specifications (which actually seem quite liberal.)
We still seize time to have fun. A lot of fun: backyard BBQs, meeting new people, dinners at new restaurants, walks along the beach, and, of course, BEER opportunities!
Anything for 2 beers and a sandwich right?
Yes, that, and it’s always nice to have a place to put your head at night…!
