Here on the California Coast we smell the eucalyptus, the king palms jut into the sky, monarchs migrate home to the ever present bougainvilleas but we don’t see the fall colors we know in the Northwest. Or elsewhere for that matter. We just don’t have the deciduous trees lining the boulevards here on the Southern California coast.
No, I’m not complaining. There’s probably nowhere else I’d rather be than here in Ventura in October. We have FREE parking, Carlos loves the temperate weather, and we’re keeping busy. Besides, we’ll be heading east before long.
In the meantime, we’re enjoying the local farmers markets and THEIR fall colors. This weekend the children will be lining up for pony rides and hay rides. A good time to pick out a few pumpkins or select your Fall centerpiece. Perhaps some pickled peppers or homegrown honey. It’s all here at the Apple Farm at Avila Beach.
